python-utmp software package provides python module for working with utmp, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install python-utmp
python-utmp is installed in your system.
Make ensure the python-utmp package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep python-utmp *
You will get with python-utmp package name, version, architecture and description in a table
